Talking Duff: HFPA Exclusive
Mae Whitman and Robbie Amell stopped by the HFPA recently to talk about their film The Duff. In that breezy teen drama Whitman plays a high school senior who stumbles on the awful epiphany that she is considered a “duff” (designated ugly fat friend) to her entourage of popular kids. Amell is her longtime friend and football jock, who’s enlisted to help her recover her mojo. As per the high school movie canon, drama and teenage hi-jinks ensue that will set the young protagonists on the road to self-acceptance and a successful prom. The two actors who carry the film talked to the HFPA’s Scott Orlin about movies, high school and what Duff brings to the genre.
